Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we begin a new school year at Parkdale, I want to welcome you to our very unique and diverse school.

At Parkdale, the entire staff is striving to offer our students a caring and nurturing environment that embraces the diversity of our student population. Through various programs and activities tailored to the needs of our community, we help our students to take ownership of their learning and their behavior in order to be responsible for their school success.

One of our goals is to empower students to develop the tools necessary to become confident, motivated life-long learners and responsible global citizens.

With your cooperation, we can provide an environment that will better ensure success for the students entrusted to our care. I believe it is crucial to develop a positive and collaborative relationship between home and school. To this end, a group of teachers have formed the “Parent and Family Involvement Committee” with the aim of pursuing the following goals: (1) Increasing parent participation in school events; (2) increasing parental involvement as stakeholders in their child’s academic success by:

  •  Attending parent-teacher and Administration-School Team meetings
  • Returning phone calls from school
  • Signing and returning student work
  • Checking students’ homework and agendas
  • If applicable, providing input towards the creation of your child’s I.E.P.

(3) To create links between the three distinct groups of Parkdale parents (recent Immigrants to Canada; parents of children with special needs, and parents who may or may not be facing socio-economic challenges).

Together with our newly formed Parent Participation Organization (PPO); Governing Board and our Community Development Agent, we are confident that we will meet the goal of creating a strong bond between home and school.

I want to assure you that every effort will be made to help your child experience academic, social, and emotional growth.

On behalf of the Parkdale staff, I would like to wish your children a successful school year.

George Koutsoulis, Principal
Parkdale Elementary School
