The Cooking Club is the newest edition to Parkdale’s nutrition initiative. With the guidance of Ms. Anita, grade 5 students have the opportunity to cook and prepare healthy meals after school on Fridays during the month of May. Students cook larger portions to take home and to donate to community members in need. The ‘cuisine collective’-style classes were made possible with the National Bank Grant and the Green Apple Grant awarded by the local Super C on Marcel-Laurin.

Grade 5 students are participating in a weekly cooking session called ‘Qu'est-ce qu’on mange,’ where French teacher, Mme. Catherine, Mme Anita, and now Mme Stephanie taught kitchen basics such as chopping vegetables, measuring out ingredients and following recipes. Their new skills turn ordinary ingredients into delicious, healthy meals which are then packaged and donated to local families in need. This project was made possible by a partnership with Maxi et Cie. Marcel-Laurin.
